CPA’s reshuffle financial planning arm
CPA Australia (CPAA) will reshuffle its financial planning services with Christopher Benson set to take over the role of financial planning manager from Kath Bowler.
Bowler will move into the role of financial planning technical adviser after a period of maternity leave, with both Benson and Bowler working alongside financial planning policy adviser Catherine Crack.
Benson has worked for more than 20 years in financial planning. He has worked with insurance group OAMPS and financial planning business PSB. Benson has also held senior roles in major fund management organisations and is a qualified planner.
CPAA has offered its own financial planning designation for two years, CPA (FPS), and Benson will manage its promotion and the direction of financial planning within the accountancy group.
According to Benson, financial planning within CPAA is growing at 10 per cent per year and the group has earmarked a series of initiatives. These include the development of a code of conduct for planning advice, higher consumer financial literacy — including research into debt levels among young people — and extending the education and training for new and existing members.
