Canberra wins AMP University Challenge
Two financial planning students from the University of Canberra have won the 2020 AMP University Challenge, which is supported by Money Management.
Sarah Pearson and Jordan Finch took home the $5,000 prize and it was the first time in a decade that the institution had won the national competition.
The competition, which had 170 competitors this year and was held virtually due to COVID-19, aimed to identify promising new talent in financial planning and promote high standards of education and professionalism. It included a technical quiz, mock advice interview and a speech on how to make financial advice more affordable.
It was also a chance for students to speak with professionals and academics from the industry on future career plans.
The rankings were:
1st place: Sarah Pearson, Jordan Finch (University of Canberra)
2nd place: Paige Benson (Central Queensland University)
3rd place: David Lautner (TAFE NSW)
4th place: Sarah Sheehan, Lachlan Cruickshank, Mathew Marshall (Griffith University)
5th place: Anuj Umesh, Ryan Ramos – Array Financials (Western Sydney University)
