ANZ Wealth has announced the launch of its mental health coaching pilot for OneCare Income Protection customers, in partnership with Remedy Healthcare.

Customers lodging income protection claims relating to depression or anxiety would be offered a phone-based Remedy Healthcare MindStep program, which would be complementary, optional, and individually tailored, the bank said.

OneCare Income Protection customers would be offered the support of a Caseworks registered nurse to visit their home and guide them through the claim assessment process.

ANZ Wealth head of life insurance, Gerard Kerr, said the bank wanted to hear from its advisers and their clients throughout the pilot on how to further improve support.

“The nature of claims is changing. Overall, incidences of mental illness claims in life and disability insurance are on the rise, with approximately 11 per cent of our total claims paid over the past 12 months due to a mental illness,” he said.

Both of these initiatives form part of ANZ Wealth’s broader response to supporting customer health and wellbeing, offering a highly personalised service in the comfort of their home.”
