AMP job cuts continue

AMP has indicated that job cuts are ongoing, as the company continues its efficiency drive.
Following media reports last month of “hundreds” of impending job losses as the wealth management company consolidates its Melbourne office, a spokeswoman confirmed there would be casualties across the business, but not in customer-facing roles.
She said the company was “still working through what this will look like”.
“We’ve been looking very closely at how we can become a more efficient business so we can free up resources to invest in new services for our customers,” the spokeswoman said.
“A part of this will be a reduction in jobs in some areas but it will not include any areas that have direct contact with our customers,” she said.
“Decisions like these are never taken lightly and we continue to keep our staff up-to-date.”
Last month, the Financial Services Union said AMP was looking to slash “hundreds” of jobs from its Melbourne office and ship them offshore to India.
