When it comes to a business merger, achieving the voting approval can be just the first step.

So when the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) and Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) received a positive vote for their merger, the organisations acknowledged that the “hard work starts now”.

This would include the new organisational and leadership structure, fees for members and a rebranding exercise.

A name had been decided, the Financial Advice Association of Australia Limited, following a member consultation but what was yet to be decided was the chosen acronym to be used.

As such, Outsider understands journalists are being asked to refer to the body as ‘the association’ rather than the obvious acronym of FAA.

The only logical alternative to FAA, however, would be FAAAL which Outsider can point out is unnervingly close to ‘fail’.

Surely this is something any organisation would want to avoid when it comes to successful rebranding.

What's wrong with FAA? It is a good three letter acronym.
