Pengana launches Asia strategies

Boutique fund manager Pengana Capital yesterday launched two new Asia strategies and announced it will open a support office in Asia.
Pengana’s Asian Equity Long Short Fund and Asia Special Events Fund represent the first of a number of Asia strategies the boutique plans to launch.
The two new strategies will operate under separate management teams but share research out of an office soon to be located in an as yet undisclosed Asian city, according to Pengana chief executive Russel Pillemer.
Perennial’s previous head of Asia Diane Lin and former portfolio manager Charles Stodart will manage the Asian Equity Long Short Fund.
Pengana is currently incubating its Pengana Asian Equity Long Short Fund to “build up a track record” over the next three months and will be open to external investors before the end of the year.
Former Rubicon investment managers Antonio Meroni and Tony Wolfe, who joined Pengana earlier this year, will manage the Asia Special Events Fund, which opened for investments today.
