MLC has established the MLC Advice Business School to provide training and support to help salaried advisers branch out and launch their own businesses.

“While many advisers are highly competent from a client strategy and communication point of view, there are a range of additional skills and support they need to establish and run their own businesses,” said Peter Greenaway, general manager of business development at MLC.

Advisers will learn from MLC’s practice management team and existing business owners, and will have access to a network of other advisers looking to establish their own businesses.

“We believe MLC is well placed to help advisers set up practices that are centred on the core principles of trust and transparency with a sound, efficient business model as the bedrock,” Greenaway said.

Students are not required to join a MLC licensee to attend the school.

“Whilst we would obviously like advisers to consider MLC as a core business partner, our primary focus is on helping establish businesses that are based on the key principles of trust and transparency, which we believe will benefit the whole advice profession. MLC’s Advice Business School will help equip already successful advisers to become successful business owners,” Greenaway said.

The first intake at the school commences at the end of March 2010.
