Zurich Financial Services has appointed Andy Marshall to the national role of head of sales strategies and research for its life risk business.

He will replace Marc Fabris, who was promoted to the global role of head of new distribution.

Marshall was internally promoted from his previous role as regional manager, life risk and will be responsible for developing, promoting and delivering the company's life insurance proposition in conjunction with distribution partners and research houses.

The new sales executive spent seven years as a financial planner, having later worked in areas such as underwriting, staff development and sales management.

"Andy's extensive background in sales coaching, strategic marketing and presenting, combined with his deep technical knowledge and extensive social media presence make him a perfect fit for this pivotal role," said Philip Kewing, Zurich general manager retail, life and investments.

"Andy is passionate about working with advisers and comes to the role fresh from overseeing record sales growth for Zurich in Victoria and Tasmania; the fact that we are able to promote internally to such a senior position speaks volumes about the depth of our team."
