Macquarie Uni starts finance Masters course
Macquarie University's Faculty of Business and Economics is launching a Masters of Banking and Finance course for students wanting to enter the banking and finance industry.
The course will allow students to get a taste of areas like wealth management and financial advice, stockbroking and investment advising, risk management, corporate finance, credit risk assessment, and insurance.
Executive Dean of the faculty, Professor Mark Gabbott, said the course was designed for students wanting to work in the banking sector, but have not had much previous experience.
"What we're seeing now is an increase of interest in careers in the banking and finance world, but limited options for education, especially for postgraduate students," he said.
"This new Master's degree will allow these future leaders to gain insight into the banking and finance industry through practical learning, including simulations modelled on real-life situations — designed especially to meet employers' needs."
Subjects available through the course include financial statement analysis and modelling, intermediate macroeconomics, corporate finance, legal governance for business enterprises, investing in emerging markets, corporate financial modelling and forecasting.
The course will begin in 2016, and entry requirements include Australian level seven Bachelors qualifications or recognised equivalent.
