Members of Colonial First State Investments’ marketing team walked away smiling after scooping the majority of the inaugural Rainmaker Marketing Excellence Awards at a presentation ceremony on the Gold Coast recently.

The judges awarded the team for its ‘All staff’ series, a campaign targeting readers of trade publications, because of its effectiveness in getting the names of Colonial’s staff members out in the market.

At the same time, Colonial’s general manager of marketing and client services Joanna Wagstaff picked up the individual award for Marketer Of The Year: Strategy and Planning Division, after receiving the most votes from the industry.

Colonial’s head of retail business development Frank Casarotti scooped the Marketer Of The Year: Business Development and Sales Division award, thanks to the votes he received from the financial planning community.

JP Morgan vice-president Bryan Gray picked up the same award after receiving the most votes from trustees, super fund executives and investment managers.

And, agreeing that rich is better, the judges gave the consumer division accolade to ING Australia’s team for its ‘Billy Connolly’ series.

Later in the evening, Casarotti added to his accolades with a second trip onto the stage to collect The Underfunded Down Under Thunder Award from none other than Austin Powers.

The international man of mystery also handed The Overfunded Blunder Down Under Award to Credit Suisse national sales manager of retail funds Clayton Coplestone, while the Asunder Funda I-Drive-A-Honda Award went toMoney Managementspublisher Susie Newham. Yeah baby!
