In line with plans for its strategic growth phase, Zurich has appointed Philip Anderson as chief underwriting officer, life and investment, Australia.
He replaces current chief underwriter Lindy Rule, who has left the business.
Zurich Life and Investments chief executive Colin Morgan said Rule developed a talented pool of underwriting expertise within the company, leaving Zurich in a strong position for continued success.
Anderson is currently Zurich’s head of protection business development for Asia Pacific and the Middle East, both major growth regions for the group globally, Morgan said.
Anderson returns to Australia after more than eight years in Asia working in a variety of executive roles spanning underwriting, distribution and proposition development.
Prior to this he spent 12 years with ING working in various senior roles including chief underwriting officer and head of national distribution.
Morgan said that Anderson’s new role reinforced Zurich’s desire to refine an underwriting proposition built on adviser and customer insights.
