Zurich Financial Services chief executive Tom Brown has been appointed to the board of the representative body for general insurers, the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA).
Brown will fill one of the casual vacancies on the board, created by several resignations last year, and will be eligible for re-election at the ICA annual general meeting in May.
The ICA board is presided over by Insurance Australia Group chief executive, Michael Hawker.
Meanwhile Zurich itself has appointed its first dedicated adviser business development manager for Queensland.
Brad Mackay has joins Zurich from Suncorp, where the Queenslander and certified financial planner worked as an adviser. Prior to that he worked as a planner at Burrell Stockbroking.
A Zurich spokesperson said the Queensland marketing team had previously juggled new business development with handling existing client enquiries, but that Mackay’s role would be more “proactive” in deepening Zurich’s product penetration in the state.
