Women are more pessimistic about the future of the economy than men, according to the latest Allianz Future Optimism Index (FOI).
The happiness survey, conducted by Newspoll, asked about 1,200 Australians to rate the future of the economy on a scale of 0-10, where 10 is extremely optimistic and 0 is not optimistic at all.
Allianz found that 56 per cent of women were less optimistic about the future of the economy, compared to 63 per cent of men who had a more positive outlook.
"The difference in optimism between men and women is one of the more interesting results of the Allianz FOI," Allianz Managing Director Terry Towell said.
As with the first survey conducted in November 2010, Towell said women continued to be less optimistic than men when it came to matters concerning the future of the Australian economy.
