The former managing director and founder of Vanguard Investments Australia, Jeremy Duffield, has been appointed as a non-executive director of MLC, National Wealth Management Holdings and other subsidiaries.
Duffield is currently chairman of the Australian Centre for Financial Studies, a member of the Australian government’s Financial Centre Task Force, and a director of National Corporate Investment Services Limited, National Asset Management Limited and Plum Financial Services.
He was previously a director on the boards of Vanguard Investments Japan and Singapore, and was deputy chairman of the board of the Financial Services Council.
MLC chairman Geoff Tomlinson said he was pleased to have a person of Duffield’s calibre and experience joining the MLC Board.
“Jeremy is an industry veteran after initially starting out as an assistant economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond in the USA back in 1979,” Tomlinson said.
“Since then, he has held a series of senior roles over 30 years at Vanguard, including founding Vanguard Investments Australia in 1996 and growing it to become a successful and serious player in the investments market.”
