Singapore-based investment management firm Toro Capital Management has launched an Australian equities and derivatives fund directly aimed at Australian and international investors.
The fund is being promoted as delivering risk-adjusted returns by investing in large cap Australian stocks using derivatives to build a long portfolio and to generate income.
The company said it had appointed Australian-based investment advisers Michael Tortoni and Raden Rodrigue to advise Toro on using a derivatives strategy based on their experience investing in the Australian equities and derivatives market.
Commenting on the new fund, Rodrigue said that as the share market cycle neared maturity, it was an appropriate time to diversify investment risk by investing in alternate asset classes.
Toro said that it had received early investor interest, with an initial investment from Ubertas Funds Management and an institutional investor facilitated by Opes Prime Asset Management.
