The University of Sydney has partnered with the CFA Institute to offer programs to students majoring in finance.
The institute, a global association for investment professionals with over 96,000 members, awards Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Each program will cover content from CFA’s Chartered Financial Analyst Program Candidate Body of Knowledge, the institute’s ethical and professional standards, and other program requirements.
Dr Ashvin Vibhakar, CFA’s managing director, said in a statement that the major finance students at Sydney University will have a firm basis in the CFA Program upon completion of their degrees.
“The solid foundation of the CFA Program curriculum is developed through extensive collaboration with practitioners throughout the world, essentially representing the knowledge, skills, and abilities that serious investment professionals need to carry in the real world,” he said.
Finance major students at Sydney University undertaking the partnered programs — which include the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Economics — will have access to CFA Institute’s curriculums, journals and webcasts, among other educational resources. Undergraduate students may also sit for a CFA level 1 exam.
Professor Michael McKenzie, the chair of finance at Sydney University’s Faculty of Economics and Business, noted that the CFA designation was “highly regarded in the investment field globally” and encouraged finance major students to “pursue the CFA charter”.
The university will be the 73rd CFA Program partner, joining colleges and universities worldwide, including Cornell University and London Business School.
