State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) has announced an expansion of its Sydney active quantitative equities team with the appointment of new senior portfolio manager, Bruce Apted.
Apted has 24 years of experience in portfolio management and research and has previously worked at a number of financial organisations including Bankers Trust, Macquarie Group, Denning Pryce and Fidante.
SSGA’s head of active quantitative equities Asia Pacific, Tony Warburton, said: “Our aim has always been for our funds to have broad exposure which gives them the ability to participate in economic growth but at the same time may help to smooth out potential market volatility.
“Bruce has very strong credentials in active equities and quantitative investing.
“His most recent work involved developing a benchmark unaware, global equity fund, so his skills are closely aligned to the goals we have for our Australian and global strategies.”
The company’s flagship benchmark unware strategies, the State Street Australian Equity Fund and the State Street Global Equity Fund, saw a growth in assets under management (AUM) of nearly $900 million over the past two years, it said.
