SQM has moved further to fill the void left by van Eyk, picking up the former research house's deputy chief investment officer and head of research.
Robert da Silva will take on the role of head of research: fixed income in alternatives for the growing research company, which used to work closely with van Eyk.
At van Eyk, da Silva managed a team of research analysts in charge of producing investment and ratings reports on fund managers across all asset classes.
Prior to that, he worked at BT and Principal Global Investors.
In his new role at SQM, da Silva will similarly lead a team of analysts in the space and start his appointment with a review of the group's fixed income and alternative asset classes.
Commenting on the appointment, Louis Christopher, Managing Director of SQM Research said, "I am excited to have the calibre of Rob da Silva on board. He is highly respected in the industry and is obviously very knowledgeable across a range of asset classes".
