The SMSF Professionals' Association of Australia (SPAA) has changed its name to the SMSF Association ahead of its conference in Melbourne next week.
Managing director and CEO of the association Andrea Slattery said the change came in a bid to make the name "simpler and more intuitive".
"To explain the SMSF Professionals' Association of Australia, or SPAA, an acronym of an acronym, became quite a long-standing joke of ‘explain to me who you are now'," Slattery said at a media conference.
"Recent stakeholder research has shown that our name is often confusing for the wider SMSF community to understand."
The name change is effective immediately. The association has informed members.
The conference runs from 18-20 February.
