The Financial Services Council annual conference to be held in Brisbane from 31 July looks likely to be one of the last financial services industry-related events to be addressed by the Minister for Financial Services, Bill Shorten.
Shorten is scheduled to address the conference during the opening plenary in a speech that is expected to set the tone for the event, which has been themed "Beyond".
Other key speakers at the event include the former US Deputy Secretary of State, Richard Armitage, and Victoria Cross winner Corporal Benjamin Roberts Smith.
The conference will also traverse key issues including financial services regulation, with sessions including Australian Securities and Investments Commission chairman Greg Medcraft and his Australian Prudential Regulation Authority counterpart, John Laker.
