Shaw and Partners has welcomed four new hires from Bell Potter Securities, strengthening its presence in the Queensland advice market.

The investment and wealth management firm appointed Dwight Phillips, Tim Harbort and Craig Clark as senior private wealth advisers in its Brisbane office.

The trio bring over 50 years of combined experience working in investment markets and financial planning, having all joined from Bell Potter Securities. Phillips served as a stock broker, Harbort as a senior financial adviser for 10 years, and Clark as a senior client adviser for more than 20 years.

Furthermore, Shaw and Partners hired Tahlia Gill as a dealers assistant, who also made the move from Bell Potter Securities.

“The best advisers continue to choose Shaw and Partners as their home to grow their business and support the evolving needs of their clients,” said Glen Gannon, Queensland state manager at Shaw and Partners.

“Dwight, Tim and Craig’s decision to join further strengthens our presence in Queensland and reflects our commitment to providing advisers with the support, flexibility and scale they need to succeed.”

Gannon said the firm is looking to grow organically both on a local and national level. Last year, Shaw and Partners recruited 35 advisers throughout Australia, the state manager noted.

“We’re still looking to grow the business. We have about 25 people here in Queensland and we have enough space to grow,” he continued.

In Queensland, the company has offices in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Noosa. Beyond this, it also has a presence in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra.

With some $35 billion in assets under advice, Shaw and Partners is wholly owned by global private banking group EFG International.

Last year, the wealth manager appointed Chris Smith as its NSW state manager to lead the Sydney-based team, alongside several financial adviser appointments.

Smith joined from Macquarie Group where he spent 23 years at the firm. This included most recently as the division director of Macquarie Private Bank and other senior positions, such as the NSW state manager for wealth management.

The company also welcomed Nathan Charteris as a senior private wealth adviser, Stephen Donohoe as a senior private wealth adviser, and Luke Herzog as a private wealth adviser.

Other recent moves in the wealth management space includes Perpetual Wealth Management bolstering its ranks with five new senior financial adviser hires in April, including two who moved from competitor Ord Minnett.

The appointments followed Ord Minnett hiring six senior advisers from Perpetual Private earlier this year, with the firm stating it was “actively recruiting top tier talent from all across Australia”.
