Caroline Saunders yesterday walked from her position as head ofAssirt, following the announcement of a restructure which will see the research house brought under the control of the St George’s Investment Centre for Excellence (ICE).
Saunders was given an ultimatum – stay with Sealcorp, work with ICE, or leave.
Saunders says she made the decision to leave the group as “the strategy didn’t meet with my career expectations”.
“I have to believe in what I’m doing.”
In previous months there has been debate within the group over the decision to bring Assirt under bank control, with one side arguing the research house was better aligned with Sealcorp and the external dealer market.
“The alignment with the client base, that’s where Assirt’s strength lay,” Saunders says.
Assirt head of sales Rebecca Jacques is now acting head of the research house, until a replacement can be found.
Saunders says she will remain in the industry, and will now begin to look for a job which does meet her career expectations.
