Plato Investment Management has hired for JP Morgan Asset Management managing director, David Allen, to its investment team.
Allen, who holds a PhD in portfolio construction and risk management from Cambridge, would bring extensive global equities experience to the Plato team.
At JP Morgan, he launched and co-managed the €6 billion JPM Europe Equity Plus active extension fund and managed the JPM Europe Equity Absolute Alpha market neutral fund. He was also head of research, overseeing approximately €20 billion in funds under management.
He had previously been a professional rugby player for Ulster Rugby and a member of the Heineken Cup squad.
The hire showed that Plato, which manages objective-based Australian and global investments, was expanding its presence. Its Global Shares Income fund, for example, had expanded to a team of nine investment professionals.
