Former Senator Nick Sherry is set to join Ernst & Young as a senior adviser to its superannuation team after resigning from the Senate last month.
Sherry will work closely with the firm's national superannuation leader, Maree Pallisco, to assist clients in dealing with the key challenges and opportunities they face in the current market.
He will also serve as an adviser to the practice globally, with a specific focus on developing markets of the Asia-Pacific.
Sherry was the first ever Australian minister to have exclusive responsibility for superannuation, having been appointed Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law in 2007.
He was also Assistant Treasurer and most recently held the positions of Minister for Small Business and Minister Assisting on Deregulation and Public Sector Superannuation.
"Nick is well versed in developments in the international pension sector, having closely studied the systems of the United Kingdom, United States and key European jurisdictions such as Switzerland," Ernst & Young Oceania asset management leader Graeme McKenzie said.
"Nick brings with him a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the Australian superannuation system."
