SarahBrennan, Leonie Henry, Corinna Dieters and Colin Scully are the newFinancial Planning Association(FPA) board members, after the association’s members were called upon to select four candidates to replace outgoing board members.
MLC’shead of distribution Steve Tucker is also slated to join the board, taking over the dealer member position held byAMP’sSteve Helmich before his elevation to the role of board chair.
The four new general board members were selected from one of the biggest fields in recent years, with 13 contenders throwing their hat into the ring for election to the board.
Among those who sought election were Mark Spiers from theAustralian Stock Exchange, financial planners Trevor Rehn from South Australia, Gavin Wright and Dominic Alafaci from Victoria, Julie-Anne Berry from New South Wales and Canberra adviser Phillip Thompson.
The four outgoing board members are David Middleton from Western Australia, Greg Gunther from Queensland, Kevin Bailey from Victoria and Kate Stephenson from Tasmania, who have stood down in accordance with FPA regulations after serving two terms on the board.
The four board positions were general member roles and were open to nominations and voting by the entire FPA membership. Tucker’s position was not put to a ballot of general members, but rather decided by the dealer members of the association.
The board was not required to fill a sixth position, that held by an external director, as the current member David Elsum has agreed to sit on the board for another 12 months after a request from the FPA.
When confirmed at the association’s annual general meeting in November, the new board will comprise of chairman Steve Helmich (AMP), chief executive of the FPA Ken Breakspear, external director David Elsum, Ian Heraud (Heraud Harrison), Paul Brady (Brady and Associates), Nick Bruining (NC Bruining and Associates), Sarah Brennan (Brennan Consulting), Leonie Henry (Henry and Co), Corinna Dieters (Accent Investment Services) and ex-head of Bridges Colin Scully.
