MLC has announced two new strategies for four of its MLC Horizon Series of portfolios in a move it says is designed to increase diversification and reduce risk, while maintaining return potential to investors.
Announcing the changes this week, MLC said they included making an allocation to a multi-asset real return strategy and appointing two managers – Ruffer LLP and Pyrford International; and appointing Capital International to manage a new allocation to an emerging markets strategy.
Commenting on the changes, MLC Investment Management head of investments Susan Gosling said it was expected the new strategies would benefit investors by increasing the diversity of investments, strategies and managers, and by providing greater preservation of investors’ capital in adverse markets.
"We’re always looking for ways to improve our investment strategies," Gosling said. "One of our core areas of research has been on how we can deliver more reliable returns to our investors."
The changes affect four of the MLC Horizon Series of portfolios, MLC Horizon 2 to 5.
