MLC has launched a support program for accounting businesses looking to offer a more holistic advice service to their clients.
The MLC Accountants' Advice Academy is one of two accountant support initiatives launched by the company, and will provide advice on how best to implement a financial advice model in their business.
Topics for discussion will include the various business model options (including traditional referral arrangements), joint ventures, employing a financial planner, or becoming a planner themselves, the company stated.
MLC has also launched its accountant solutions team, which will focus on helping accountants get financial advice and licensing arrangements in place if they wish to continue to provide advice on self-managed superannuation funds after the Future of Financial Advice changes have been introduced.
The newly created team is headed by MLC national manager accountant solutions, Nick Hilton, while the academy is due to kick off in April.
