Macquarie Funds Management has moved to reassure the market about the stability of its equities team in the wake of the announced departure of Geoff Wells.
Macquarie confirmed Wells’ departure as senior equities portfolio manager today explaining he was leaving after 12 years to take up a new challenge.
Confirming the move, head of Macquarie Funds Management Equities Patrick Hodgens said the funds management team remained experienced and stable.
He said Wells represented the first senior departure from the equities team in more than five years.
Hodgens said that as a result of Wells departure, Suhail Mehra had been promoted to portfolio manager and that, additionally, two new senior portfolio managers, Bruce Apted and Tuan Luu, would be joining the team in August.
