The chairman of Macquarie Group and Macquarie Bank, David Clarke (pictured), has resigned from his positions as chairman and voting director due to ill health.
Macquarie’s leading independent director, Kevin McCann, will take Clarke’s place, effective today.
Clarke joined Hill Samuel Australia, the company that was to become Macquarie in 1971 as joint managing director, and rose through the ranks since then.
McCann has been an independent voting director of Macquarie Group since August 2007 and served as acting chairman of the group for a year in November 2008.
