MacquarieLife has appointed a medical doctor as head of underwriting and claims, aiming to ensure a faster process by avoiding the need to refer all medically complex cases for further assessment.
Sally Phillips joins Macquarie Life from South Africa where she was a founder of life insurer Discovery Life, and also its head of underwriting and chief medical officer.
Head of Macquarie Life Justin Delaney said Phillips’ appointment would help the business to “ensure an easy and efficient underwriting experience for financial advisers using FutureWise platform”.
“She will offer medical input to underwriting and claims cases, in order to ensure a faster process by avoiding the need to refer all medically complex cases for further assessment.”
Phillips reciprocated that her move to Australia and her decision to join Macquarie Life was driven by the solid reputation Macquarie’s FutureWise platform has developed among advisers.
“I see a lot of potential in this market to grow and also to educate the public on the importance of life insurance as part of their financial planning needs,” she said.
