High profile technical strategist Andrew Lowe has left AMP to join the technical team at ING, heading up technical investment strategy for its funds management business.
The former technical services manager at AMP will work with the ING technical team of six focusing on succession and estate planning, income support, tax planning and wealth accumulation, retirement planning and superannuation.
Lowe replaces Tony Negline who is leaving ING to pursue his own business interests. Negline, who spent five years with ING, will work with Lowe in a transitional handover period until his July 2 departure. Negline also stepped down from his role as chairman of the Australian Retirement Income Streams Association (ARISA) late last year.
ING Research & Technical Services national manager Roslyn Shirlaw says Lowe’s background and skills in technical research strategy will complement the 13 strong combined technical and research team.
“Andrew brings to the position seven years of experience in developing specialist financial planning strategies for advisers and their clients,” she says.
Lowe spent four years with AMP Life as technical services manager, retirement planning, technical and professional and prior to that was a technical services consultant for Connelly Temple for three years. He launched his financial services career with DeReeper Financial Services in January 1992, where he was involved in marketing.
The ING Funds Management Research & Technical Service Centre works on services for ING’s business units, but Shirlaw says the technical strategies developed by Lowe and team have both an internal and external focus.
“The technical strategies are designed and developed for financial advisers, and then taken to the market place,” she says.
“The centre provides specialist services to external organisations such as research houses, media and education institutions.”
