The Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) is joining forces with Deakin University to provide policy advice on issues like self-managed superannuation.
With an SME focus, the partnership will look at issues briefings, policy papers and SME sector research and report findings to bodies like the International Federation of Accountants, the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) and the Financial Reporting Council (FRC).
The FRC has also come aboard as a non-financial partner.
"This is an exciting development that will strengthen the IPA's ongoing thought leadership and advocacy supporting small business across Australia," IPA chief executive officer Andrew Conway said.
"The IPA-Deakin SME Research Partnership will become our research backbone in relation to SME issues as we continue to drive a credible SME policy voice throughout the region."
