Are the days of asset consultants numbered?
That is one of the issues that will be canvassed at this year’s Association of Superannuation Funds national conference, in Melbourne.
The chief investment officer of UniSuper, David St John, and the head of consulting at Intech, David McMahon, will discuss the manner in which major superannuation funds are increasingly taking an in-house approach to asset allocation.
The pair are expected to discuss the future role of asset consultants and the manner in which they can work in tandem with in-house teams to obtain appropriate outcomes for superannuation funds.
The debate is also expected to touch on the blurring of the lines between asset consultants and fund managers, with a number of asset consultants having increasingly taken on a funds management role.
