ING has made more than 70 product and underwriting enhancements to its OneCare life insurance product.
Cover has been extended to previously uninsurable risks, including for high-risk occupations, needle-stick injuries and pregnancy complications, while new and improved definitions have been added across the range of options.
The upgrade, which applies to both existing and new OneCare clients, was necessary to keep pace with social trends and advances in medical technology, according to Mark Vilo, head of marketing and retail products for life risk.
“These enhancements will give our clients broader protection with no increases in premiums — clearly a beneficial outcome in a society that is grossly underinsured,” he said.
Among the new cover options is the Income Secure Special Risk, which provides coverage for 140 occupations previously not insured by ING, including miners and bricklayers and even surfboard manufacturers.
Cover for babies and pregnancy is also a new option, while clients from medical and nursing professions can now obtain needle-stick injury cover for up to $1 million.
New ING full-payment trauma conditions now include severe diabetes, while a range of other full and partial options have been added, including for the protection of the entire male and female reproductive organs.
