Industry funds-backed investment group, IFM Investors has appointed former Bank of America Merrill Lynch chief economist, Alex Joiner, to the newly created position of chief economist within the firm.
Confirming the move this week, IFM Investors chief executive, Brett Himbury said Joiner brought 11 years’ experience across Australian, New Zealand and Asian economies with a focus on finacnail markets, risk, investment and quantitative research to the role.
He said the new role would allow Joiner to provide leadership in formulating views on macro and micro economic inputs, for both existing and new investments.
“Alex is a formidable macro-economist, and his breadth of experience means he will be a key member of the IFM Investment Committee,” Himbury said.
“He will be instrumental in working with our investment teams and assisting with investment decisions across all asset classes.”
Joiner will report to chief commercial officer, Joshua Lim, and commence in July, 2016.
