AMP has named Hugh Humphrey as the new managing director of its premium dealer group, Hillross.
The role has been vacant since February when John McMurdo left to take up the chief executive role at Centric Wealth.
Humphrey is a relative unknown to the financial services industry— he joins Hillross from Singtel Optus where he was director — mobile and convergence.
AMP director of financial planning, advice and service, Steve Helmich said Humphrey’s appointment would bring “a fresh approach” to the Hillross business.
“His extensive sales and marketing experience with some of Australia’s largest and most competitive companies will ensure Hillross is well placed for future growth,” Helmich said.
Prior to working at Optus, Humphrey spent six years with Vodafone in a number of senior roles, having started his career as a management consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Humphrey will step into the role in November. Until then, Ray Djani will continue as acting managing director.
