Former High Court Judge, Ian Callinan has been appointed to head up the Commonwealth Bank's Independent Review Panel as part of its Open Advice Review Program aimed at addressing compensation issues around the activities of Commonwealth Financial Planning.
Callinan's appointment to the key role has been announced by Commonwealth Bank chief executive, Ian Narev, who said the former High Court judge would be taking up his role immediately.
Narev's announcement said that Callinan's initial priority would be to advise him (Narev) with respect to "key design elements of the program to ensure it fulfils its primary objective of supporting affected customers and guaranteeing an independent review of their cases".
He said Callinan would also have input on appointments of other senior experts to the Independent Review Panel, who will be suitably qualified and equally independent people.
