The former managing director of HFA Asset Management, Oscar Martinis, has returned to the financial services market at the head of a new insurance offering for accounting and financial planning firms.
Martinis has launched a new company, Smart Business Insurance, which offers a partnership approach to accountants and planners with respect to the sale of business risk and other forms of insurance.
He said he had co-founded Smart Business Insurance on the basis of having identified a segment gap with respect to the provision of insurance to small and medium business clients — an area increasingly dominated by general insurance brokers.
Martinis described the offer as an opportunity for accountants and planners to "close the loop" on their clients' service offering while minimising the potential for leakage.
The company has established its base in Melbourne but has intentions to set up offices in both Sydney and Brisbane within 18 months.
