Big NSW-based fund, First State Super has announced a number of new executive appointments, including a key hire from KPMG.
First State Super chief executive, Michael Dwyer said the appointments were aimed improving the quality and depth of service the fund provided to its members and had entailed a restructure of the leadership team.
He said Guy McAliece would assume the role of Chief Operating Officer while Mary Murphy had been appointed to the newly-created position of Chief Digital Officer.
Dwyer said that as Chief Operating Officer, McAliece would have responsibility for marketing, insurance, business development, and the fund’s member administration and service centre.
Prior to joining First State Super, McAliece was the lead partner of superannuation advisory services with KPMG and Chair of the Joint Working Group that provided oversight to the 2011 merger of First State Super and Health Super.
Dwyer said the mcAliece appointment would enable Graeme Arnott, who previously held the dual roles of Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO, to focus his extensive experience on the role of Deputy.
He said as Chief Digital Officer, Murphy would have responsibility for the digital transformation of the fund as well as further developing the organisation’s brand and corporate affairs strategy.
