Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA) executive director Duncan Fairweather has been named as the successor to Richard Gilbert as chairman of the Finance Industry Council of Australia (FICA).
Gilbert is standing aside from the FICA chairmanship after announcing his intention to retire as chief executive of the Investment and Financial Services Association later this year and thereafter take up a consultancy role.
Gilbert has served as chairman of FICA for two years.
Fairweather has been executive director of AFMA for eight years while his background includes almost 30 years within the public policy and government relations in the financial markets, banking, property and manufacturing industries.
