Consultum Financial Advisers will provide financial advice to Western Australian farmers as part of an alliance with the Western Australian Farmers Federation (WAFarmers), fronted by the partnership’s new WAFarmers Financial Services.
WAFarmers Financial Services now has a team of Perth-based advisers led by Mike Jones, and all are authorised representatives with a thorough understanding of specific issues facing farmers and how to tailor financial advice to this demographic.
“These are critical times for farmers and there’s never been a time when financial advice was more necessary.
“Although the economy, drought and salinity are beyond the control of our members, financial security and control need not be,” said Doug Parker, chief executive officer of WAFarmers.
The alliance brings together WAFarmers, the state’s largest farmer lobby group, and Consultum, the Melbourne-based life-stage financial planning specialist backed by IOOF Group.
Parker said WAFarmers was “very excited by the alliance, [having] found an affiliate that shares the same values and service standards”.
