Well-known economist Dr Don Stammer has joined Centric Wealth's Portfolio Construction Committee after being retained by Philo Capital Advisers (Philo) as a non-executive expert.
Philo helped Centric develop an approach to portfolio construction and management, including active asset allocation and security selection implemented via managed accounts.
Philo analysis forms the basis of quarterly asset allocation targets, which is a function of the committee by which Stammer has been retained.
Stammer has been an academic economist, deputy chief manager at the Reserve Bank, chief economist and director of investment strategy with Deutsche Bank, and a visiting professor at the Australian Graduate School of Management.
He has also been a director at a number of major investment companies, including ING, and has a regular newspaper column.
Philo joint chief executive and chief investment officer Ashley Owen said the business hired experts as external members for many of their committees.
"We find that use of these experts, working with our own staff, creates an environment where ideas get thoroughly tested and that leads to better decision-making," she said.
Centric Wealth has funds under management of $3.5 billion, with $1 billion in managed accounts.
