The chairman of Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), David Turner, has announced the appointment of Brian Long as an independent non-executive director of the bank.
Long has over 30 years experience in serving as an audit signing partner on major Australian public companies. He was a senior partner of Ernst & Young and chairman of both Ernst & Young Global Advisory Council and the Oceania Area Advisory Council until his retirement from the partnership on 30 June 2010.
Commenting on the new appointment, Turner said: “Brian is very highly regarded as one of the most experienced auditors and financial advisers in Australia. He will bring wide accounting, auditing and governance experience to the board and we very much look forward to his contribution.”
