Aviva’s investor’s multi-strategy target return fund has received a ‘recommended’ rating from Lonsec Research, despite it only being available in Australia for a year.
The fund was put together to deliver a return of five per cent per annum above the Reserve Bank of Australia’s base rate, over rolling three-year periods, with less than half of the volatility of global equities, Aviva said.
The fund was launched in Australia in July 2015 and raised $8.5 billion in assets.
Aviva’s head of business development in Australasia, Brett Jackson, said both the Macquarie Wrap and Colonial wrap platforms added the fund to their investment offerings, and that the fund continued to build on that momentum.
“In the current environment of low yields and volatility it is no longer sufficient to beat the benchmark. Our investment approach resonates well with Australian investors that are looking for specific outcomes regardless of the market conditions,” Jackson said.
However, based on Money Management‘s Investment Centre (MMIC) we found their fund did not beat the benchmark on a year-to-date, three or six-month basis, as highlighted below.
