Australian finance professionals have the highest job satisfaction in the Asia Pacific region, according to a survey conducted by eFinancialCareers.
The Job Satisfaction Survey, which included participants from Australia, Hong Kong, China and Singapore, found that intellectual challenge, remuneration and opportunities for promotion were among most important work motivators for Aussie finance professionals.
However, almost half of respondents (45 per cent) are not satisfied with the opportunities for promotion at their current firm.
"Firms need to recognise employees’ desire for a visible career path and better manage their expectations about promotion so that there are no surprises during the performance assessment meetings," said George McFerran, head of Asia Pacific for eFinancialCareers.
Australian finance professionals are also more optimistic about the economic outlook than the regional average, with almost half being positive about what tomorrow holds.
Overall, 69 per cent of Australian participants were somewhat, very or extremely satisfied with their current job, which compares to 64 per cent in Hong Kong and China, and 63 per cent in Singapore.
