Steve Gibbs has been appointed chairman of Australian Ethical Investments following André Morony's decision to stand down.
Morony will depart the company at the end of this month after two years in the role but will remain on the board as an ordinary member to ensure a smooth transition, Australian Ethical stated.
Morony said that despite a difficult operating environment for the business, the general public was now more aware of the important role that social, environment and ethical considerations play in the investment decision-making process.
"I have known and worked with Steve Gibbs for over a decade and I have every confidence that he will further strengthen Australian Ethical in the period ahead," he added.
Australian Ethical has also appointed Mercer senior partner Tony Cole and Mara Bun as members of the board.
For the past 17 years Cole has held senior investment consultant and executive roles with Mercer's investment consulting business, including heading the business in the Asia Pacific region for more than five years.
Before that, he held senior positions in the Commonwealth Public Service, including Secretary to the Treasury.
Bun is currently chief executive of environmental organisation Green Cross Australia and has previously worked for The Wilderness Society, Greenpeace Australia, Choice, and the CSIRO.
