Asteron has announced that it has updated a number of its products for its Asteron Lifeguard insurance.
Part-time employees will benefit from the upgrade, with the number of hours of work per week required to be eligible for income protection and total and permanent disablement cover being reduced to 20.
The current economic situation means many people are moving from full-time work to part-time work and this product makes it easier for people to maintain the right level of cover, Asteron said.
Asteron has also introduced a 20 per cent and 15 per cent base premium discount where full cancer and mental illness exclusions have been applied at the time of underwriting.
In addition, the offer to newly-qualified professionals, including solicitors, accountants, doctors and dentists, has been expanded while those in farming occupations will see an increase in the monthly benefit and the benefit period extended to 65.
