Former Zenith Investment Partners’ head of portfolio solutions Steven Tang has joined his old colleagues at investment consultancy Ascalon Capital.
Tang spent 17 years at research house Zenith, joining as an investment analyst in 2008 before progressing through the ranks to become head of portfolio solutions in April 2019.
It was announced in September that he had decided to depart the firm and would be on a period of gardening leave.
It has now been confirmed that he has joined asset consultant Ascalon Capital as executive general manager of asset consulting.
In a statement on LinkedIn, Ascalon said: “Steven brings deep experience across portfolio construction, investment governance and adviser consulting, with a strong focus on disciplined, institutional-grade investment frameworks.
“Steven strengthens our asset consulting capability and will partner closely with advice businesses to design robust investment solutions, enhance governance and translate insight into clear, practical outcomes.”
Tang is far from the only Zenith appointment the firm has made in recent months.
Ben Davis, who was a founding partner of Zenith back in 2003, joined Ascalon in June as a partner to lead its strategic investment consulting work.
Former investment consultant Sean Currie took up a position as consultant while Shailesh Jain, who spent almost four years at Zenith as a senior investment consultant, was appointed as Ascalon’s deputy chief executive.
Finally, Berit Deagan was appointed as head of business development, having spent five years in the Zenith business development team.
As well as the moves to Ascalon, Zenith has also seen a number of departures with the exit of managing director Jason Huddy and co-founder and investment director David Wright.
Wright has joined Pinnacle Investment Management as head of client solutions while Huddy has taken up a position as executive general manager for investment solutions and governance at Netwealth.
Zenith is not the only research house the firm has been targeting with additional hires of John Burton from Lonsec as head of business solutions and David Boyle from Lonsec as a consulting partner.
