Karunakaran has more than 15 years’ experience in credit and relative value fixed income investing and joined Ardea from Saka capital in Singapore where he spent four years as a fixed income portfolio manager.
Prior to that, he worked for eight years as a portfolio manager and trader at Moore Capital, Tricadia Capital and Deutsche Bank in London.
Ardea has also announced the appointment of Harry Singh, Dealing and Compliance.
Ardea’s principal and co-founder, Ben Alexander, said: “Ardea’s new appointments ensure that we are well resourced to extend our track record of actively managing defensive fixed income portfolios that exceed return targets, while prioritising liquidity and capital preservation.”
The company said the move would allow it to strengthen a team in order to help drive growth from both institutional client business and retail advisers.
