Aon Risk Solutions (ARS) Australia has announced that Lambros Lambrou will replace long-serving chief executive Steve Nevett, effective January 2014.
Lambrou will report to Nevett, who will continue on as chairman of the Pacific Region, a position he has held since 2010.
Lambrou is Aon's current head of the London Global Broking Centre and chief broking officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to his London role, Lambrou was head of Aon analytics and, later, chief operating officer, Aon broking, based in Chicago.
Aon said he also has a strong understanding of the Australia market having worked in various roles spanning reinsurance and retail broking for Aon in Australia.
"Our clients can expect to benefit from his outstanding understanding of global insurance markets and we're very much looking forward to cementing his expertise into our here business here," Nevett said.
"Being able to fill this very important role internally is particularly pleasing. We know Lambros and he knows us, which means he can hit the ground running on behalf of our clients and colleagues."
The appointment of Lambrou will allow Nevett to focus on implementing Aon's broader strategy across the Pacific, Aon stated.
